What’s your story? Where are you from?
I was born in Staten island New York but my parents who are Jamaicans decided that moving back to their home country would be better for me than living in the clustered city of New York.
Living in Jamaica was one of the greatest time of my life. I lived there for 14 years and went to school until I was in 9th grade. I started drawing at the age of 3 and ever since then I kept getting better.
I returned to the United States to finish high school and began planning my life. I developed as an artist during high school and took interest in the field of advertising. From there I started to train to join the advertising world
Tell us about your aesthetic.
I prefer realism but my art ranges from simple black and white pictures to very colorful and wild life art. I can make any type of image that comes to mind.
What is your favorite medium and why?
Good old pencil and paper will always be my favorite way to make art, it’s where I started from. Digital art on the Adobe programs come in at second place and water colors come in at third.
What is your artistic process like?
Starting of I do a very quick sketch of whatever I plan on making. I do a subconscious selection of lines in the sketch which are used as my main out line. I darken this line if I’m making a regular drawing and from there I color in the piece with markers crayons and pens.
Who and/or what inspires your work?
I take inspiration form anything that has life or looks like it has life to it.
What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?
Art gives me the ability to express myself, I know it’s cliché but it’s true. I’m not a very vocal person and the best way for me to demonstrate what I’m thinking is through my art.
The way I view art is just like the way I see water in an ocean, It’s the always shifting and changing and the closer you look the more you see, below the surface lays something very mysterious, life lives within it.
Where did you study?
I’m studying at Alfred State College of Technology. My major is Digital Media and Animation. I want to do design but this major will give me more opportunity to learn different tools I can use to create art.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Working in an agency?
In five years, I see myself as a full-time designer or art director on my way to getting a promotion
What do you hope to achieve with your art?
I want to make my very own manga/comic
